Insulation Materials

The selection of insulation type is determinated by the kind of application and the characteristics that the cable must respect, such as:
- Electrical properties related to the signal transmission
- Minimum and maximum operating temperatures
- Reaction to fire
PVC
Polyvinyl Chloride - Temperature Range from -60°C up to +105°C
TPO
Thermoplastic Polyolefin - Temperature Range from -60 up to +80°C
PE
Polyethylene - Temperature Range from -40 up to +70°C
XLPE
Crosslinked Polyethylene - Temperature Range from -40 up to +90°C
HEPR
High Module Ethylen Propylene Rubber - Temperature Range from -40 up to +90°C
XLPO
Crosslinked Polyolefin - Temperature Range from -40 up to +125°C
Sheathing Materials
Inner sheath is a necessary layer if we consider an armored cable or a cable with a special protections.
The main scope of inner sheath, apart from giving a round shape to the cable, is to protect conductors from mechanical stresses and humidity.
While the main scope of outer sheath is to protect cable from external agents, such as:
- Oils and Chemical Agents
- Moisture
- UV Rays
To ensure the effective operation, protection and durability of the sheaths, it is necessary take into consideration different aspects to select the right type, from the type on installation and laying of cables to the kind of enviroment they will be exposed to.
